Fractalus line ternates is a project iv been working on for a while. Its a sub line of the Apokalupto line.
I wanted to create a great looking line of pure ternates for making pures that can also be used to make great looking morphs
Fractalus is basically a swiss army knife for selective breeding.
Theres 5 main traits i look for to improve pattern structure.
1 Thick black
2 Sharp back diamonds
3 High diamond count
4 Black that connects from the back diamond to the rosette down to the belly
5 Black inside the back diamonds. This is probably the hardest trait to breed for.
The Fractalus line has all of those traits. Either expressed or carrying them.
The reason for putting all those traits together is so i can use them for any morph breeding to offset the parts of the pattern structure the morph takes away or limits.
Most morphs do two things.
Reduce black and cause more of a rounded striped out look.
In the case of morphs like marble and tiger that basically just exaggerate the back pattern structure. You'll need to use the right looking back pattern traits if you want to avoid striping.
To make better looking morphs you have to counter those effects, or add traits that will look good in their exaggerated form.
This is were polygenic traits, locality, traits, and all the other genes that make up pattern structure.
I dont think science knows what all causes variation in phenotype pattern of retics.
The fractalus line has proven those genes can be controlled to make specific looks.
